Rashtriya Lok Dal (abbreviated as RLD) is a political party in India founded by Chaudhary Ajit Singh. The Rashtriya Lok Dal is committed to upholding Chaudhary Charan Singh Ji’s cause and ideals. Chaudhary Charan Singh was a multi-faceted personality—a freedom fighter and patriot, an exceptional administrator, a statesman, a thinker and scholar with a revolutionary vision, a man of character and integrity, and above all, a champion of the masses, especially the weak and downtrodden in society. His enduring struggle for truth and equality continues to inspire our countrymen.
Our Values
Political leadership in the country must remember that nothing challenges our values and dreams more than the desperate struggle of citizens for survival. Nothing can be a greater patriotic goal for our leaders than ensuring that no child goes to bed hungry, no family worries about the next day’s meal, and no individual’s future or potential is diminished by malnutrition.
Our Philosophy
We are concerned about the impact of climate change on our country, its agriculture, and its environment. We have spoken in Parliament about the need for countries like India—with developing and agrarian economies—to work together and adopt a flexible approach that does not hinder growth yet supports global understanding and commitment on climate change.
Our Inspiration
Chaudhary Charan Singh’s vision for social equity and his ability to build political consensus led to significant legislation in the State Assembly. He adapted central government plans to benefit agriculturalists by ensuring they received procurement prices higher than prevailing market rates.
Our Achievements
Some of the notable achievements include the Debt Redemption Bill, 1939, the Consolidation of Holdings Act, 1953, and the Uttar Pradesh Zamindari and Land Reforms Act, 1952, which abolished the Zamindari system across the State. We also continue to work alongside various civil society groups and non-governmental organizations.
